How to get history of Farmall M

Postby jwc9 » Sat Oct 18, 2014 5:18 pm

New member here. Long time reader first time poster. In July a 1945 M found me. I fell in love with it. I am currently painting it and doing some upgrading. It runs and functions great just needed paint to look nice. My question is this. Is there a web site that I could enter my serial number and find where and to who this was sold to new? I would like to find some back ground history on it. I think it would be nice to know where it started its life at. The previous owner had no history on the M.
I had been looking for a John Deere B for a few years until I came across the M. The sheet metal was clean and straight and pretty much complete. Rode it ten miles to bring it home. Now when I look at the J D model B's I think they look odd compared to the M. Funny how things change when the love bug bites. Thanks for any help!

Sadly, no. Those records were most likely destroyed during the case/IH merger. The holy grail of IH collecting is one day someone stumbles across a carbon copy of all those records in some former IH secretary's basement!

A!

Stumbling across old prototypes or production mules would be incredible as well!

Welcome to the forum! I just re-did a '45 H (hit link below my name) this Autumn. Fun project, but pretty drawn out (for me).

Would like to see some progress pics if you have time to post them. Congrats on the M!
