International 460 Utility 2 point to 3 point
I have a 1960 International 460 Utility tractor I wish to use 3 point implements on and this tractor has a 2 point fast hitch which I like. However adjustments with the conversion setups does not lend itself to smooth operation. Namely disc drag when you lift for turns, plow does not draft to get proper depth, box blade almost impossible to adjust for proper operation, tiller depth goes too deep, even my finish mower does not sit right when lifted. I looks like it wilted on the back of the tractor. My sense is that I need to convert the implements to 2 point fast hitch, each one. As converting the tractor to 3 point has not worked out. I have looked at several different conversions and see the same problems. I have spent a lot of time trying to use implements with the conversions I have. I'm sure there are more mistakes for me to make but I would like to avoid them with all of you guys and gals help.

What sort of 2 to 3 point conversion do you have? Factory made or not? You have pictures?
Maybe somebody will have suggestions on how to make it work better (or agree on sight that it will never work).
How many implements are you trying to use with it? You mentioned 5.

Plow sits like this and still plows to deep. I have to keep lifting plow out and restarting plow. Top link is adjusted as far as possible. Shown in raised position.

Looks to me like you need to shorten that top link.

Tried plow sinks so far into ground tractor won't pull it. I can plow with it this way but still have to set set plow out of soil after about 25 feet.

Just those five. If I can get this to work, that is.

Yup. Purchase a shorter top link.Don McCombs wrote:Looks to me like you need to shorten that top link.
Shorten the braces from the top link to the plow beams.
Don't think the plow was made for the tractor.
I have an excuse. CRS.

Top link is set way too long. I'm having trouble picturing the plow going in the ground set that way. Run the left wheels up on about 6 inches of blocking and take another picture.

Re: International 460 Utility 2 point to 3 point
The picture shows the plow in the up position. When it is lowered into the ground it goes too deep, covers the plow. Has to continually be raised with tractor hydraulics and replaced to the ground to let it bite in again. Makes for very inefficient plowing.
I don't understand how shortening top link will cause it not to bite in so drastic.

The problem I have is it is going in the ground to far that way.

Nelson,
Moldboard plows all operate following the same principles (with very slight modifications, in some cases) and are designed to utilize those principles. When properly adjusted they work fine. What you have is an International tractor, using an aftermarket 2-to-3 point conversion, pulling another brand plow (looks like the Ferguson plow I learned to plow with). Bottom line is nothing you have is designed to work together, therefore, adjusting your plow does become much more challenging. Irrespective of your experience with the plow, your first adjustment is to shorten the top link. No 2 bottom mounted plow I (and probably all the others commenting here) have ever seen has been mounted that way.
Take a look at this 'How To' for a Cub plow. http://farmallcub.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=149&t=38411 Your plow and tractor has to follow the same principles in the article in order to work.
I wish I was a lot closer, I would enjoy the challenge helping you sort it all out.
Bill

Re: International 460 Utility 2 point to 3 point
The back of the second moldboard looks like it is sitting on the ground. I don't see how it will even go in adjusted as it is. I still want to see it with the left wheels up on some blocks.
