Thanks Jim. Any trick you can share on how to put the transmission housing top on to make sure the shifter is engaging properly? I took it off to look inside to see how the teeth and everything were and when I put it back on it is not shifting properly…….so I obviously didn’t put it back in the right place. Thanks.
Put it together with everything in neutral. Make sure the shifter and all 3 forks are in neutral. Check that both slider gears on the input shaft are centered between the lower shaft gears on each side. Make sure the reverse slider is fully disengaged (back as I recall). Keep the shifter level and square while lowering it in place. Stick 2 bolts in and try shifting into all gears. If it works, put the rest of the bolts in. Otherwise start over.
Have you located the level plug low on the left side of the transmission?
Jim,’ I finally got a chance to get back to my transmission work and your explanation was perfect. Everything is back together and running well. Thanks again for your assistance. Rod
