JFK Memorabilia

Postby Jim Becker » Sat Oct 07, 2017 9:14 pm

News story today that a bunch of JFK related items are being auctioned. One item is his boat. The article was accompanied by a "stock" photo of the boat. Look what the trailer is hooked to.

Is that an "H" or an "M"?

Hard to say with that little showing and at that angle. I'm inclined to think it is an M.

Not often I disagree, but looks like H to me. Steering shaft appears to have to much angle for M.

That could be. I was trying to go by the height of the hood/tank and the amount of curve to the pedals. Those are the only parts that I could see that are fairly distinct between the H and M. Bad angle for seeing either.

Considering it regularly got dipped in salt water it is probably hard to tell what it was even if it could be found now.

I haven't seen anything that even talks about that tractor. It could have been his, but it seems more likely it belonged to some marina that did the grunt work of launching and boat maintenance.

On second thought, that looks like a fairly recent picture. It was probably taken at a boathouse owned/used by the person that was selling it at this month's auction. (Peter Eastman)
