300 Carb adjusting question

Postby ShawnAgne » Tue Mar 27, 2018 10:24 pm

This may sound silly but have the following question. When I go to adjust the idle mixture screw does turning it clockwise make it richer or leaner?
Same when I adjust the full throttle load screw, does turning it clockwise open up the fuel or restrict it?

Turning them in makes them leaner. Out is richer. Do them slow as it doesn’t take much adjustment when you find the sweet spot.

IM a newby with carb and ignition problems both, have the engine strippe down to get at the timing and
have decided the distributor is mostly whats wrong, the advance is klogged up with gunk and the springs are very week. Does anyone have the crank and cam torque settings as all the books I have (7) fail to give both! Warren on a 300U in eastern Colorado!
