Majic paint

Postby Cstrock » Tue Oct 13, 2020 3:35 pm

Anyone ever used the majic paint from tractor supply. I plan on spraying it with air compressor. And using hardner and thinner. Any suggestions. Don’t need show tractor just good looking one

I've never used it but from what I have heard its not very good, fades quickly. I would use an automotive acrylic enamel, its a much better paint than the alkyd enamels thats out there.

You mentioned not wanting a show tractor paint job. To me, any paint from an automotive paint store would be excluded with that criteria.

I’ve used alkyl enamel from Case/IH; their #2150 red and their primer. Great results for working tractors. If you’re using hardener, use proper breathing apparatus.

VanSickle makes a good paint—used to be TSC’s paint, which Majic replaced. Never used Majic but heard awful things about it. Can find VanSickle at many farm and home stores.

I personally won't use Majic paint. I've been very disappointed with any I've tried. You do too much work to use bad paint.

Stanton, acrylic enamel is not a hi tech automotive paint its just one step above alkyd enamel. It is more durable to the sun thats why I recommend it over the enamels that the tractor companies sell.

Majic is just a cheap paint that Tractor Surprise uses to make a bigger profit.

You're right. Acrylic enamel is the better option.

I've used Majic on unimportant little projects, I wouldn't use it on anything I care about. Like Tim says, there is no magic in that can. I, too, like the acrylic enamel.

Any other suggestions for paint. I don’t have a dealer anywhere near me. Can you buy the iron guard off the internet

Does your tsc not carry Rustoleum Tractor paint? Mine does. Hands down a better choice over the Magic paint. Run away from that stuff.
