I have a 130 and there is a vent on top which is also where you add oil.
The 140 does not have that. There is a hole in the oil fill cap on the governor. Is that the vent for the crankcase?

I thought the 140 had a similar vent to the earlier tractors but on a shorter tube that didn't stick through the hood. Lift the hood up and take a look.
