Fast Hitch Question

Postby Ohiowoodchuck » Sun Jun 12, 2022 8:57 pm

On the bail that goes under the floorboard and can be stored on the bracket attached to the floorboard, when cultivating. What size cotter pin goes on it to attach to the final drives.

You are describing something that attaches to the floorboard, then asking about a cotter pin for SOMETHING that attaches to the final drives. You may have to tell us what "it" is.

It’s a 1/4, but I’m not sure if they used a cotter pin or a clip originally. It’s the bar, that the fast hitch mounts to and then hooks to the rh rockshaft with a longer bar. When not in use there’s a pieces that bolted to the floorboard you can store it there for cultivating.

Okay, you have the bail, the part you pointed to at burchstore. You have the draft link, the long rod to the Touch-Control. Between these two is a part called the draft link extension.

The draft link extension is held to the draft link by a pin and to the bail by another pin. It isn't clear which is which, but one pin has a pointed tip and is held in place with a quick-attachable pin (hair pin style). The parts catalog does not give dimensions. But several pins on the back part of the hitch are identical.

The other pin is a standard pin 1/2 x 1-13/16, held in place with a self-opening cotter pin, 3/16 x 1-1/8.

What about where the bail goes thru the brackets that are bolted to the final drives. I’m assuming since this is a permanent connection it would be a cotter pin on both sides.

Parts Catalog calls for a 1/4 x 2 in your second location. I'm still confused about the location of your first one.

BTW, the Parts Catalog for the Super A is located in the PDF Manuals section.

I was trying to describe the bail. Mine came with a bracket that bolts to the floorboard. When you unhook the draft control linkage from the rockshaft it allows you to mount the bail to the floorboard so you can cultivate.

On my Super A you remove the rod # 9 and reuse the pin #10 with the same hair pin to pin it to the floor board.
