Battery Box question for 100

Postby ShawnAgne » Fri Nov 05, 2021 4:43 pm

On my 100 all I have for a Battery box is the sides. The front and rear lips on the sides hold the battery in place and it is VERY snug with the 12V batter. However is this correct? I see on Steiner they have sides and a front, then a 4 sided battery box then an enlarged battery box. Just curious if what I got is correct or what.

In the manuals only a manual for A and B's nothing for a 100.

The Super A was switched to the 4-piece battery box in late 1953. The 100 uses an identical box. Looking at Steiners, I don't see any reference to an enlarged box. I don't think there is room to enlarge it anyway, except maybe a little sideways.

By the way, the front was only used on tractors without Touch-Control.

Jim's attention to detail of the parts and service manuals is not to be questioned. He has corrected me on a number of my posts and when I reread the parts book or service manual he was 100% correct.

It was the IHS520, in the description it says it can replace their IHS082 box for easy of battery access, so I took this to mean it was enlarged.

I read that comment as a pitch for replacing the early one piece box with the four piece box. That way, rather than having to lower the battery into the box and then install it all at once; you can install one side, set the battery, then install the other side.

Ah ok, I wasn't sure what it meant. Because like a previous poster said with the touch control there isn't any room to make it longer.
