Oil indicator valve

Postby Cornbinderlover » Tue Dec 08, 2020 6:29 am

How in the world do you get the oil indicator valve out of the side of the oil pan? I want to replace one of mine that has broken tabs on the handle and have taken off the pan but am still unable to figure out how you get it out. Thanks for the input.

I think the tread is left-handed.

No, it just unscrews from the pan...regular threads. The part that is left-handed is the open-close valve, itself.

The one in Steiner's pic is not left handed. As far as I know, it's a simple pipe thread, should screw right out, with a little effort.

Yes! Just get a big wrench...since it's already broken! Turn that thing counterclockwise to remove it from the pan.

If you look closely, the threads for the shut-off are left-handed...as you turn the knob clockwise, it draws the shaft outward, closing the valve.

Dale, Thank for the correction. I had to do one last year and I remember left-hand thread was somewhere
