Rear rim and center buggered

Postby Lt.Mike » Wed Oct 02, 2019 5:03 pm

There were hidden things on that “bargain” SA I picked up and I just found another.
The holes connecting the stamped center to the rim on the left side are badly wallowed out. The pads in front of the riveted mounting blocks are worn away as the center was rubbing against it. The center of all the mounting blocks are badly wallowed out too and the blocks themselves are bent. If I put a bolt in the blocks they’d just pull through.
This rim may end up a fire ring.
It’s an 8” rim with a 9.5-24 Firestone Field and road on it.
The PO handed over an extra stamped center for the SA which should have been a clue. If he had that he knew the other center and rim were damaged but never said anything. nice.
Too bad he didn’t have a rim to go with it.
I put a post on the vine hoping someone going to Cecil’s later this month would care to part with one.
