Hi everyone,
About four years ago my wife and I bought a 1981International 284 diesel 4x4 from a family friend, whose father bought it new. It has the DU-AL 105 front loader. It needed some love, so I powerwashed the entire tractor, had the injectors rebuilt, had a new complete wiring harness made, replaced the fender marker lights, replaced the alternator, replaced the voltage regulator, replaced the twin master cylinders, replaced the glow plugs, changed all the filters and fluids, made a new firewall panel, and installed a new seat. She runs like a top now and we absolutely love her, even if the only thing on that tractor, that is International Harvester, is the paint and decals. The funny thing is that neither International nor Komatsu seem to want to recognize this tractor. I guess there are a lot of red-headed stepchildren across the different brands.

Re: New Member - Nampa, ID
sounds like your on the right track
The 284 was not well received in my area. If my memory serves me right there were 2 Variants for the 284 a Mazda Gas and the Komatsu
I did have a good friend that had a really nice offset 284 Diesel that was used to cultivate Tobacco in eastern Tennessee

Welcome to the forum, Fred! The 284 is a pretty obscure tractor, I'll see one, at a show, every now and then but not often. I'm thinking Rick Prentice (forum member) had one, they look interesting.
