Update on Billy Ray

Postby brichter » Wed Jan 19, 2022 7:44 pm

Hi guys this is Justin, Billy Ray's son. He wanted me to log in and let you guys know that he passed away peacefully on Sunday night. All of you here were very important to him. Working on Cubs brought him much joy over the last years, but I think the friends he met through doing it meant the most to him. As a family we have enjoyed hearing about CubFests, attending them (Deep South CubFest), and hearing stories about all of you.

There will be a Celebration of LIfe in Blountstown FL at Adams Funeral Home on Sunday the 23rd from 2 to 4 pm. In lieu of flowers please send a donation to the Kinard Public LIbrary. Billy Ray had a lifelong love of reading anything he could get his hands on, from Sci Fi to Westerns to Cub Manuals. Thanks again to all of you for being good friends to my dad. We will miss him greatly.

I am so sorry to hear of Billy Ray’s passing. He always had a good story to tell and was so helpful to everyone he met at a CubFest. He will surely be missed.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

I’m very sorry to hear this. I barely knew the man exchanging a few messages about this and that and he shared a few kind words to me.
I really wish I had made the trip south to personally meet him at his Cubfest.
His endless list of friends is a testament to a life well lived.

I am so very sorry to hear that my friend has passed. Billy Ray was a good friend, and a good Cub enthusiast. Thank you, Justin, for letting us know about his passing. He had told me that he had some health hurdles, but he had reminded his doctor that he was 80+ years old already. He had a wonderful outlook that was infectious. I am proud to say he was my friend. He will be sorely missed.

Justin, Thanks for letting us know of Billy Ray’s passing. I had seen a lot on the forum about Billy Ray but didn’t know him personally. However many did know him and this will be a big loss to the Cub community. RIP Billy Ray
