So I've been reading and answering and asking and having a blast with this forum. What a great bunch of people here who are knowledgeable and helpful. So not only am i restoring a november 1952 cub, but i also have a studebaker half ton truck and take it to lots of shows. it's bone stock original, paint and all. and looking at people with the trailer queens, polishing every nut and bolt at a show i think man, why go through the trouble. well the engine on my cub is almost finished, i started re-assembling the silly thing about 2 weeks ago, and darned if i don't find myself polishing every nut and bolt and wiping every finger print from the paint! this is a complete tear down restoration, everything is getting re-done, re-machined, re-painted, re-polished, re-made... it's a blast, what a fun little tractor, and i'll NEVER question why anybody would want to bother polishing nuts and bolts again!!!
