1968 IH Cub
I just purchased a 1968 IH cub, this is my first tractor so I am new to this arena. I have done some research and found that I have a rear rockshaft that makes me lucky to have found an IH with one. My question is can I attach a bush hog to my tractor or other implements, it has the belly mower. I have read I can buy a fast hitch but how does that work with needing a PTO for the thrush hog. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

Re: 1968 IH Cub
Welcome to the forum! It sounds like you have lots of questions and you've come to the right place for answers. For what it's worth, your questions pertaining to your Cub should go in the Farmall Cub section rather than this one as it is a catch-all for other models that don't have a specific section of their own.
I don't have a lot of familiarity with the fast hitch or a rear-mounted brush hog. I know they are out there. You should know that the Cub pto is unique in that it spins at full engine rpm (vs the typical 540 rpm), has an atypical output shaft size/spline arrangement, and spins the opposite direction of a conventional PTO. This means that pto-driven implements you can buy at a Farm & Fleet type store will not work with a Cub. Given that this is your first tractor, you would be wise to seek out used implements that were designed to mount to the Cub.
If you spend some time and use the search box at the top of the page, you will be able to learn about the fast hitch and how it is utilized.

Re: 1968 IH Cub
As Jim stated, implements were specifically built for the Cub.
Make a list of tasks you want your tractor to accomplish and required implements. Implements for virtually all farming tasks to be accomplished by a Cub are out there.
For a lot of tasks the Cub is to small, to light in weight, and under powered.
Brush hogging. I mow/brush hog about 16 acres of pasture once or twice a year. Neither of my two Cubs with belly mowers are satisfactory for pasture mowing. I use a 30 plus HP tractor with trailer type rotary mower for mowing pasture. However, I use both Cubs for mowing 4 or 5 acres that are kept in near lawn condition.
While your are doing your research, look at and price some what larger tractors, with more standard features.

I have an excuse. CRS.
