Soaked brake bands

Postby Nosparkplug » Fri Jul 28, 2023 2:09 pm

When I got my Cub someone in the past had over filled the transmission. I was told that the brakes had new bands on it when I bought it. Short of dismantling the axles has anyone sprayed them real good with brake cleaner and it worked?

Other forum members have reported success by removing the brake band and using a small torch to burn the oil off the band. You can search the topic at the upper right corner of this page. JMHO Stan

After I posted I tried the brake cleaner and one side works very good but the other side wants to chatter. I think it might be glazed. Any thoughts?

I've used parts cleaner then followed up with burning them off with good luck.
