Wiring

Postby Misterwrong » Sun Apr 09, 2023 2:36 pm

Hey everyone .
I just bought a 1949 Farmall Cub.
After I get it home I realized that there was no coil inside the magneto.
I saw some videos on how to wire an external coil and resistor but I'm really not sure if the wiring on the tractor is correct and how you would wire from the coil to the resistor into the distributor to the points.
Any suggestions or photos or just a handwritten diagram would be greatly appreciated

6 volt battery and coil, no need for the resistor. 12 volt battery and coil, the resistor is usually mounted/wired in front of the coil.

One more post and you can open the manuals section, Quick Links, upper left of this page.

Search this site for photos and discussions on the magneto with external coil - - lot of posts.
I have an excuse. CRS.

I chased down all the wires according to internet drawings.
I had my coil wired backwards.
I replaced the condenser and got a spark in the plugs!!!
Thanks everyone
