noisy right final drive
I own a 1975 Farmall Cub. It has a noisy right final drive. But stops when I depress the right brake slightly. Not sure, but I think it is a warn differential shaft/bowl gear, and when I touch the brake it takes up the slack and preloads the gears. Has anybody else had this problem? If it is the shaft/bowl gear if I replace the shaft will this fix? And do you know where I can buy a new one? I would appreciate any input you might have one this problem Thanks, David

Re: noisy right final drive
What kind of noise? I would suspect the brakes (drum, band, etc.) rather than the final drive.

Re: noisy right final drive
Hi,
The final drives have oil levels to check that are separate from the transmission.
I would check their oil levels, if you haven't.
The operator's manual tells how to check them.
Cub brakes can make noises when nothing is wrong, scraping or rubbing noises.
The ones I have seen make more noises when cold than after the Cub is run and warmed up.
