Hi,
You could try cleaning, and checking the float height on the old carb, and put it on and use the Cub and see if it works better.
If it still works the same, then probably the magneto needs service.

I can't because the old one is beyond repair and the emulsion tube is snapped off. I also took the spark plugs out and they had some oil on them and a whole bunch of carbon so I cleaned them and it made no difference in how it ran I run champion RD-15 Y spark plugs. Also should I change them out with ones that make hotter spark?

Try a set of Champion D-21 sparkplugs or equivalent.

Might be able to salvage it. If the tube you're referring to is the small brass tube, it's replaceable. Flatening and straightening the top as well as repairing stripped threads are all fixable. Stan

Is it worth the time because nobody around can repair it because I'm in Canada.

Yes, you can place a wanted post on the CLASSIFIED forum for someone to repair it then mail it to the person. Happens frequently.

TM Tractor at the bottom of the page has a new idle tube, below is the listing.

They have other parts for the IH carb also. :)

So it might be the plugs and I might try autolites because my tractor doesn't get worked hard enough for champions

I just purchased an idle tube/jet and bowl gasket for an IH carb from McDonald Carb, total was about $12 plus shipping. Ordered Jan 17, arrived today,

Great news everyone she's running now. All I had to do was clean the spark plugs to look like new. After I did I started her boom 1 second on the starter and she popped then attempt number 2 she started but had to flutter the choke a bit to get her going. After she warmed up for 30 seconds I took the choke right off and she to my surprise kept on running strong so I took her for a drive in a snow storm and it did every thing it should but when I first took off in first gear it was a little cold still so i almost stalled but once I was moving it ran fine It was even blowing some black smoke with carbon pieces but after a minute or two it had stopped smoking completely.I even plowed part of the drive way with it but everyone thank you so much for all of your advice. :thanx:
