3 way switch

Postby Dusty B » Mon Aug 29, 2022 5:08 pm

Are the outer rims on a cub and a B the same? Want to do a 3 way switch to get the best tires ( also 9.5) on my B, 2nd best on the cub with the blade, poorest on the “non-runner “! Hate the thought of having to pull 3 sets of tires off the rims and remounting them!, All the rims are due for sanding and repainting!

Hi,
The 24" rims on Cubs were available in 5", 6" or 7" wide.
The 8.3" or 9.5" tires were used on the 7" rim.
The Cub parts manual shows.

Below is a pic from TM Tractor showing where to measure them, maybe you knew already.
It is a 7" rim in the pic.

Probably someone else knows if the B rims fit a Cub.
You could measure the mounting holes and see if they are the same distance apart. :)

A, B and BN rims are the same, but the Cub rims have different mounts on them.

The Cub bolts are 7/16, and the A/B/BN are 9/16 if I remember right.

I also think that the outside diameter of the wheel centers are different too! But dont quote me on that one! :)

I think the outer bolt pattern between the Cub and the A/B/BN is on a different bolt circle too!

I remember trying, but the specifics are fuzzy.

I know I did not do it in the end!

All the differences SamsFarm mentioned are real differences. There is one more, the lugs on the A/B/BN rims are offset an additional inch from the center of the rim. If you had none of the previously mentioned differences, the track settings would end up half-way between the original settings. Rather than being 40, 44, 48, etc, they would be 42, 46, 50, etc.

I wouldn't know the bolt sizes either without looking them up.

Thanks, after looking more just may switch the set from the B I’m thinking of parting out to the running one and leave the cub out of the mix!
