crankshaft dowel

Postby pett3227b » Fri Jun 24, 2022 10:48 am

I need a crankshaft dowel for a standard crankshaft in my 47' farmall cub. Does anyone know where I can find one?

Dowel? Bushing.

Advertisers on this site sell the transmission shaft bushing that fits in the rear of the crankshaft.

No I don't need the bushing. I need the dowel that goes on the back of the crankshaft that helps line up the flywheel onto the crankshaft.

Case IH part #24550D I can't find the size though. You can order it online through Messicks.

$14.36 plus shipping and handling.

Measure the hole diameter. See if a 3/8" bolt will press fit in the hole. If it will, hardware store bolt, hacksaw, grinder. Acutally, local hardware store may have the pin in stock. If you don't want to do that, any tractor dealership.

How did you manage to lose the pin?

Well if it is really a dowel pin, they are generally real hard, and precision ground for a precise fit.

Crankshaft is probably reamed for a press fit, while the flywheel is reamed for a slip fit.

No way would I use some bolt cut and stuck in the hole, only to chance it coming out and clanging around in the clutch, or wiping out that cast aluminum seal retainer

Any tool & die shop might have boxes of them.....

Or just bend over and take it...... from Case IH and be safe!

PRESS FIT.

Original poster hasn't explained why the pin is missing. If the pin just fell out, the original poster will have to do something else. Another original pin will also probably fall out.
