Hello gang-
I was putting on a few decals yesterday, and my kit included one meant to place on the back of the seat pan. It reads, "Hitch only to drawbar or front pull hook - not to tractor."
So has anyone seen an example of the "front pull hook?" Where does it mount? I'd be curious to know...
Idle question - "Front Pull Hook?'

Re: Idle question - "Front Pull Hook?'
Barnyard used to sell them. I have one and they are quite handy especially for backing an implement or trailer into a shed. Also another way to have a hitch if something like a sickle mower means the drawbar has been removed. If I did it right the following link should show a picture of one. Just put in a receiver hitch. Then you can insert one of these (Amazon), just don't overload it.

I have never seen one of those decals, I think those front hitches came long after cubs we produced. I don't think front pull hooks we ever original equipment.? Not in the parts manuals ?

Re: Idle question - "Front Pull Hook?'
You are correct on all counts. The front receiver hitches, as shown in the photo, were initially designed and manufactured by forum member Rick Prentice. He has since ceased production. But, I think Barnyard is still having them manufactured. It should be pointed out that as a result of where and how these are mounted, they should be considered suitable for light duty only.

Re: Idle question - "Front Pull Hook?'
The sticker in question usually was placed on the back of the pan seat on the regular cubs….
I too have never seen a front pull hook setup….but it would be interesting.

Is that the decal on the back of the seat where the trip rope hooks to?

Re: Idle question - "Front Pull Hook?'
I guess the decal should have said something like "front pull hook if there is one". I think that was a standard decal that was used on all models. On models that had a front pull hook, they couldn't use a decal that implied not to use it. Back in the '40s, they thought people were clever enough to figure out you couldn't use a hook that wasn't there.

Re: Idle question - "Front Pull Hook?'
Hmm... it seems I may have failed the cleverness standard of the 1940s.
Thanks guys for the replies. That hitch receiver using the lower steering housing camp bolts is darn clever indeed! I sure agree that you would have to exercise considerable discretion in using that.
Thanks again for the good discussion!

Te loop on the bottom of those receivers is a great tie down point.
