cub-3 spring teeth

Postby brewzalot » Fri May 06, 2022 9:33 pm

Do any of the replacement spring teeth offered at Agri Supply fit a Cub-3 harrow?
Other sources?

Thanks
Tim

cub 3 cultivator.png

Bringing this back around with a picture ( from the C-4 Cub cultivator forum manual) of the harrow I'm looking for a replacement s- spring tooth.
Is this considered a Cub-3 cultivator/harrow ? And are there new parts available anywhere for these or ones close that could be modified to fit?

thank you for any help

Tim

I haven't found a direct replacement. Some local stores have something that generally looks like it but isn't the exact shape or same height. I think this at Agri Supply is about the same as I have found.

I haven't tried to use them. The different height means you would need to completely change to a set of these. It might work better clamped at the top rather than near the mounting hole. The difference in height may throw the pitch too far off and you end up with one row much deeper than the other. Not particularly good news, but the best I have found.

I have 4 springs and the clamps I took off of one, don't know how you could get them being so far away. I'm sure it would be an expensive shipment. Cub express maybe?

Earlier Cub-3 cultivators had the double springs, like the pictures in Shane's post. Later on, they switched to a single leaf for the springs. I don't think you can mix them with good results, so you will need to look for the ones that match what you already have. Just wanted to be sure you knew there were two different styles used so you could get the correct parts if you find someone with extras.

I wonder if he is looking for the shanks (springs) or the shovels (teeth)

I would hope that he knows the points/shovels are a replaceable wear item and can be bought many places. The spring or part the shovel mounts too is going to be the problem.

Sorry for slow response... 93 year old dad fell and ended up in ER.

I was trying to help a friend find just the spring part not the shovel. He hit a stump he didn't know about and broke 1 shank/ spring.
I'm not that familiar with this implement, did not realize there are 2 different styles as Rick pointed out. I will have to get with him again and get more info.

Thank you for all responses and Slim 140 for the offer, will need to find out for sure exactly which one he has first.

Had to look at the machine to verify, mine has both styles mixed. Alignment is fine.

Thanks for verifying that, Jim. I honestly thought the points would line up differently, glad to know they can be mixed.
