There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

I had a project to do this same repair/replacement on a '49 FCub and was fortunate to attend a cubfest where a very skilled form member was repairing mags and agreed to repair my mag and kindly allowed me to observe and participate in the process. I quickly learned that taking advantage of his skills was the smartest thing for me to do. My advise to anyone who has a similar project and has not the tools and experience to do the job is to get some qualified :help: . It is quite possible to damage the mag beyond a reasonable repair if the wrong things are done. :surrender: BTDT!!! Replacement parts are sometimes not readily available and are expensive!! :hattip:

I tried to find one of her doing a Cub mag. Couldn’t find one. I did see there is a video of her doing a H4 mag

The inside of the magneto looks like it’s been at the bottom of a pond. I have taken everything apart and will soak the mag for a couple of days and dry it out real good.

Pic of innards of mag might be helpful. The impulse may not be working

Hi,
I noticed in your pics of the Cub that the Cub 22 Mower is not up in the transport position as much as it should be.
It should be up straighter, so the Cub can get closer to things at the side.

It looks like the mower is raised to the right position from the ground, the yellow part is about level with the ground.
Someone probably changed the hold up rod, and it is too long, but I can't see the rod much in the pic.

Below are pics of the hold up rod, and the angle of the cutter bar when up.
The 1st pic is from TM Tractor.

Below is a listing at TM Tractor for the style of seat Cubs came with, you can look at the pics. :)

Yes, I’ve been waiting to get a new seat. The sickle mower has been quite a pain. When I got the tractor the mower was not attached. The cutter bar was connected to the flywheel shaft assembly and just left in a field. I tried to separate the mower but had no luck as the pin that connects the flywheel shaft assembly to the cutter bar was mushroomed over. I ended up just having to cut off the end. Getting the mower on tractor was even worse. The drag bar had been welded in spots for some unknown reason. The magic you can do with a stick welder. The drag bar is suppose to come up through the hole on the mower however, on my tractor I had to get the drag bar to go down through the hole. The stay rod had been taken apart from the drag bar and had just been left in the cutter bar and because of the mower sitting in a field the threads were awful. I had to cut off the threaded part of the stay rod and weld a bolt on the end. The mower will need new sickle sections and hold downs but that can wait for next year. The pulley might need replacing as it is pretty stripped as well as the pto shaft. When the previous owner stopped farming, he added the lawn mower tires on the front as he mowed by his hunting cabin which was always wet.

I had to rebuild the hydraulic block. After I put on the sickle mower, the hydraulics seemed to have no power to raise it. After the rebuild things slowly got better. The photo is also warped a little because it was taken with my old phone which had a broken camera.
