farmall cub drawbar

Postby yaesukk4lgt@yahoo.com » Wed Dec 15, 2021 8:18 am

Hello,
I need to mount the swinging drawbar on a farmall cub and my parts manual says the bolt is (special). Does anyone know what the difference is? Is this a shouldered bolt? I can't seem to find any.
Thanks,
Stan

Same as the regular Cub drawbar mounting bracket bolt. 1” tapered head. Go to TM Tractor parts at the bottom of the page. They have the bolts.

You can also make your own tapered bolts by running a nut all the way to the head of bolt. You put a taper on the nut before treading it down. There is a how to somewhere on the site. I’ll look for it.

Are they really the 1" length, or should it be the 1-1/4 length?

Forgive me but I come from the school of a tapped hole should have 1.5x the diameter of threads in the tapped hole.

A example being a 5/8 diameter screw should have 15/16 inch of threads engaged in the tapped hole!

Too few threads means stripped threads!

Too long of screw means the threaded boss cracking off the housing!

The 1-1/4" screw would be proper for attaching a 5/16" thick part, not taking in considetation for the taper!
