Re: original battery ground starp bolt
The original grounding was by means of a cable, as opposed to a strap. The cable and bolt sizes are shown with the wiring harness portion of the electrical section, not the battery box.

Re: original battery ground starp bolt
The original was a conventional (round and insulated) cable, 8-1/2 inches long.

Re: original battery ground starp bolt
Brillman could probably make one up. I don't think they use battery post clamps that quite match the originals. Most people just use a flat braided cable, many long enough to ground at a bolt at the bottom of the box. You can't tell the difference with the lid on the battery box. By the way, it looks like the answer to your original question is a 3/8x5/8 hex head bolt.

I have a 50 cub that has a battery ground cable I can measure. A good auto parts store can make one up for you

Re: original battery ground starp bolt
Hi,
Below is a page from the 1965 Cub and LoBoy operator's manual, showing the battery and the original style ground cable, in the lower pic on the page.
The manual has 6 and 12 volt info.
The bolt that holds the end of it to the battery box has a lockwasher and nut.
The lockwasher and nut are originally on the outside of the battery box, I think.

Below are pages from the Cub parts manual, the ground cable is shown at number 8 in the pic, and the description shows the bolt and nut.

The pics can help you with the wiring too.
The 1st page with the parts manual pics shows the wiring and cable routing in the middle pic.
There are 4 clips to hold the wires and cable along the right side, under the edge of the hood.
There are clips under the platform.
There is a clip beside the clutch pedal, fastened to the dash. TM Tractor sells that clip, if it is gone.
The other clips, people on here have made from sheet metal.
There are wiring pics in the 1955 Cub operator's manual also.

It was used on the 12 volt Cubs, starting in 1964, according to the Parts Catalog.
