Steering box and assembly

Postby Tractor Rod » Sun Dec 05, 2021 10:09 pm

:help:

Can I interchange the steering box and the complete cast iron assembly from a 1953 to a 1951 cub? They look interchangeable but wanted to confirm prior to disassembly.

I have never attempted this and wondering how hard it is to do?

Yes, everything should be the same. Not too bad of a job.

Thanks Gary. Will I need any seals and gaskets, etc. and where would you buy those?

You could also change it for a late model with 24 tooth gear to make steering easier. You need to use the matching steering shaft for the steering wheel. Parts can be bought from TM Tractor parts at the bottom of this page. Or bushings can be bought from bronzebushings.com for a lot less.
