How long are you leaving the acid in there? As I understand it, Muriatic acid will eat the metal as well so I don't want to create more problems solving one. :shock:

as long as it takes to do the job, yes it eats metal, that is why the baking soda is used in the end to neutralize it

Baking soda or “washing soda”? I think they are similar but are different products.

Yes baking soda is a base. It neutralizes the acid. That's the important thing there. Your not just rinsing it off but stopping a chemical reaction.
