No cap. That was designed to run a planter. A sprocket fits on it. There's a seal that can be replaced.

Re: Right side Final Drive
Hi,
Sometimes there is just a slow seeping from the seal at the Seed Plate Drive, and over time the oil collects dust and dirt, but it is not really leaking much, and doesn't really need repair.
I would give it a power wash, and clean it, and then use the Cub and see if it leaks there.
The final drives might need the oil level checked, if you haven't checked them lately.
You have to remove parts of the Fast Hitch on the right side, at the front 3 final drive implement bolt holes, to check the oil level.
There may be a hole in the left side bracket, at the rear 3 final drive implement bolt holes, to check the oil level, unless it is one of the first Fast Hitches. You have to remove the whole hitch to check the left side, if there is no hole.
The bracket might have dirt between it and the final drive.
If oil is leaking out of the holes where the brakes are, then you should check the transmission oil level, it may be too high, and causing oil to come out the trans seals, and run out to where the brakes are.
The trans might have water in it, raising the oil level.
The trans oil level plug is low on the left side of the trans, it should be filled to there.
It holds 3 1/2 Pints of oil.
If the oil level is right, and oil runs out where the brakes are, then the trans oil seals are probably leaking, and need replacing.
Below is a page from the 1955 Cub operator's manual, showing the Seed Plate Drive.
It is different than the left side, there is no cover over the the end of the axle.
There is an oil seal in the right side cover.
TM Tractor has a new oil seal.

Re: Right side Final Drive
Oil leaking from that location is not leaking from the transmission, you need to check the fluid level in the final drive. Of course, I don’t mean to discourage you from checking the transmission, as well.
