Thanks for the great info. I have a ferrule just large enough to freely slide on the fuel pipe but just haven't been sure how to properly put it in. I will continue to work with it.

I have to say I do like the plastic ferrule I used in the above post.

I got a seal on the first try and the turning the fitting was smooth. It did not take the effort that the brass ferrule or the one-piece fitting needed to get a seal.
When you only have 9 horsepower you need to know the names of all of the ponies!

I see that it is not symmetrical. How is it oriented on the fuel line?

I put the blunt side facing the carb or the bowl and the thin side facing the fitting.
When you only have 9 horsepower you need to know the names of all of the ponies!
