Postby hotrodcars » Thu May 20, 2021 7:20 pm

Hey folks, can anyone tell me what the difference between a 350 782 R11 and a 368 094 R1 inner tie rod is as I can't find any specs on them and there are no numbers on the ones I have? Thank you in advance for any help !!!!!!!!!

Hi,
The Cub parts manual says the 1st part number you gave is for the regular Cubs, and the 2nd number is for LoBoys. Except it is 368094R91.

It only gives measurements for the LoBoy rod, it says it is 14 3/4" long.
It is for LoBoys serial number 4802 and above, that is the newer style of rods on the LoBoys.

You didn't say what year Cub you have, or if it is a regular Cub or LoBoy.

If you have a regular Cub, you can measure the length of the rods it has. :)

It is a 1948 that someone converted to a loboy at some point, I am in the process of a full resto, meaning I am putting it back the way it was meant to be with all date codes matching. My TR's are the 14 3/4, but in the book #25 for the cub doesn't give any measurements to let me know exactally what the difference is or for that matter does it really matter IE: are the ball ends different or the tube size. I will need to get new outer TR's anyway just don't want to run into any issues.

I forgot to mention mine has an adjustable/expandable axle don't know if that matters.

Hi,
Yes, it does matter, the tie rods for a non adjustable front axle are 1 length, their length can't be changed.

I measured the tie rod tubes on my Cub, they are 14 1/2" long, measuring from the outer end, straight to just under the ball.

I don't know if you have seen a Farmall Cub in it's original form, so you can see the style of steering parts they have.

Below is a pic of the Farmall Cub steering rods at the middle.
The LoBoys had the same style of rods, until serial number 4802, then IH changed to the newer style of tie rods.
The newer LoBoys have a different steering arm at the steering gear than a Farmall Cub.

Below is a listing at TM Tractor for new LoBoy tie rod tubes, it has a pic at the bottom of the listing of the newer style of LoBoy tie rods, at the middle. It is the part number of tube you gave in your post above.

If the whole front end has been changed, where it bolts to the engine, and you are going to replace it with one from a Farmall Cub, then that should come with the right steering parts, unless someone has changed parts on it. :)
