Are the 172 planters with a duplex seeder and fertilizer hopper with all of the original mounting frame, sprockets, gears, chain, etc., worth much money?
Can someone give me a ball park figure on a complete set in good condition that is ready to mount on the Cub for planting and fertilizing?

Thank you

it can be tough to find them complete, just buying the pieces to make one can make you crazy, prices vary a lot and by region

Thank you tst. I live in middle Georgia. And, like you have said, it is hard to find all of the many pieces that make a complete set for planting and fertilizing. I am dickering with an old retired farmer now on his set and he has asked me what I would give for it. He will not tell me what he will take. He is a good personal friend and I don't want to insult him. Just an idea, what would you offer?

I picked up a duplex hopper setup for a cub a year ago in Alabama with everything including fertilizer hopper for 600. It came with two duplex plates peanuts in shell and corn. It was in rough shape and required a lot of heat to disassemble and free everything up. Then I had to sandblast and paint. In the end I replaced the fiberglass fertilizer hopper with a reproduction one because of rust in the cast parts. After taking everything apart and replacing all the cotter pins, grease fittings and new chain I am around 1000 dollars in. The plates are kinda hard to locate but I have found them. Looking forward to planting purple hull peas with it this year as soon as it dries up enough.

I have also pieced together another planter setup with the Richmond hopper. I have about 600 in that setup but still need the fertilizer hopper.

That is what I paid just last year in Alabama. Hope that helps.
