Hello,
I am looking at the wiring diagram for my 48 cub. I don't have the taillight, (or battery for that matter right now). It appears the there are both a tail light and a rear red warning light? Or are they 1 unit? Where would the "flasher assembly" be located?
thank you
48 Club red warning light

Re: flasher
I do not think the flasher was a option on the early cubs!
I could be wrong, but I think the caution flasher did not come along until the square nosed cubs (1963)! The blinking caution light that I am familiar with is a pressed steel arm that mounted to the left rear fender and the light mounted to that!
Have a great night!

Re: 48 Club red warning light
Hi,
The 1949 Cub owner's manual has a section with extra cost equipment, it doesn't show that any extra cost rear light was available.
Cubs came for years with the white work light on the rear, same as the headlights, up to serial number 210000, when IH changed to a tail light standard.
There was no flashing rear light in 1948, you may be looking at a newer wiring diagram.
The lights and other equipment changed through the years.
There is a wiring diagram on page 59 of the 1949 Cub owner's manual that I posted for you at the Introduce Yourself section.
The rear light mounts on the bracket on the rear of the battery box.
Below is a page from the Cub parts manual showing I think the 1st combination rear light IH used, I think Jim B. said this style came out in about 1950.

Below is a pic from TM Tractor of it.

flasher did not come out until 60's with 12 volt cubs, you have a red taillight and a work light

Re: 48 Club red warning light
As it turns out the manual that came with my 48 cub was published in February of 1976.
