cooling system

Postby ktinsley12091960 » Sun Feb 28, 2021 6:49 pm

HI,
I bought a 48 cub at auction. Got it home and the radiator leaks. Has anyone bought a radiator lately, and whose do you like? I would like a stock fit if possible.

Thank You

The general consensus is Clancy radiator for best fit. I think forum sponsor TM TRACTOR PARTS sells them. There's others available but Clancy is close to the original. If you can find a repair shop that is willing to test yours it might can be repaired. In my area a cleaning and repair will run $100 or more, a new replacement is around $300.
EDIT: I just looked at TM Tractors' listing, a little less than $200.

Can it be fixed?
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

The radiator tubes and tank can be soldered.

Gaskets can be replaced!

Where is it leaking?

Soldering the tubes is like soldering copper pipes in plumbing. Clean the oxidation from the area to be soldered, apply some flux, heat and solder!

Sometimes some fins have to be removed to access the tube.
