I put my cub all back together and now my seal driver is missing. I used my seal driver and grease to driver out my old pilot bushing. I but it all back together new clutch , bearing ect. Now that i Got my tractor back together Cleaned up tools and my driver is mising. Did i leave it in the fly wheel/Pilot hole??? . Will it fit together with this in the pilot hole if it is in there. It was about 1/2 in thick .It fit on the handle kind of snug but didn't have a screw holding it to the handle Do i pull it back apart?????? HELP thank You Billy

Re: Think I made a big mistake ????????
If your tractor is back together, the tool is not in the pilot bushing. You can look or feel around for it through the hand hole in the bottom of the bell housing in case you left it in there.

Buy a new one and the old one will show up.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

The drive shaft from the transmission fits in the pilot bushing hole.

Every single time for me!
Check your trash. Unless it’s a marathon project (my pickup ) I don’t put the trash from the barn to the curb until it’s all put together and tools accounted for. Too easy to toss needed things when cleaning up. A friend did a water pump on his Monte Carlo and tossed it’s unique water neck out somehow and he had a bad time replacing it.

If your tractor went together, your tool is not in the bushing. Check in the bell housing through the hand hole. If it's not in there, you've misplaced it elsewhere.

Re: Think I made a big mistake ????????
Hi,
Hopefully you measured the ID of the pilot bushing, and the end of the clutch shaft with a dial caliper, to check the sizes of them, like the Cub service manual says.
The ID of some of the new pilot bushings become too small after driving them in the crankshaft hole, then when you put the Cub together the shaft won't stop turning when you push the clutch pedal down. Then the transmission grinds when trying to shift it into gear.
The bushing needs measuring before putting the pressure plate on, and reamed to the right size if it is too small.
I'm not sure what year your Cub is, maybe 1952.
Below is a page from the 1955 Cub operator's manual showing how to adjust the clutch pedal free play, the drawing at the bottom of the page shows the clutch, and how far the clutch shaft fits into the pilot bushing.
The free play is measured at the surface you put your foot on.

Re: Think I made a big mistake ????????
I didn't realize that that was supposed to slip at the bearing l
so I am probably in trouble there I've done a mess of trucks and didn't realize the Cubs would be different I thought the slippage come in the clutch itself when depressed

Re: Think I made a big mistake ????????
The clutch shaft has to stop turning when you push the clutch pedal down, so the clutch disc and the shaft are stopped.
The clutch disc is attached to the spline shaft, by the splines, so they both stop when you push the clutch pedal down.
The shaft has to stop turning in the pilot bushing too.
Cars and trucks with a manual transmission and a pilot bushing in the crankshaft work the same way.
Below is a page from the Cub and LoBoy service manual showing the clutch shaft front end diameter, and the running clearance for the bushing, at Spline and clutch shaft.

I don't know if yours will have any problem with not stopping, but there is the info.

Don’t feel bad your not alone on this. I second guess myself when things turn up missing all the time. I recently bought an inspection camera off amazon partly for this reason and I’ve already used it to verify or omit suspicions on things without having to tear them all apart.
I think this is going to save me a lot of guesswork and waisted time. It’ll be good money spent.
I got the 10’ version but so far what I’ve used it for the 3-1/2’ one would have worked fine.
It even takes pictures and video!
I’ve got nice pics of a mouse nest way back in the torque tube of my lo-boy
