I would think that the pump opening cover (part #351 676r1) would have been painted at the same time as the rest of the tractor.

My thought as well. However on a close look I could see some red paint.

factory paint does not stick that well on some medals, much of it they did not use primer, seems to stick on the rough castings but not the smooth steel

Hi,
The Cub looks good in the pictures.

The Woods 59 rotary mower I had came with the Woods hand lift lever included. The mower was new at the time. I don't know if they included the lever with their mowers later or not.

I noticed in your pic that the 2 bolts holding the cover on the engine where the Touch Control pump goes look like they have the dots in the middle of the heads. I can't see if there are 3 modern lines on them also.
IH quit using the bolts with just the dot in about the early 1950's.

They changed to bolts with a dot and modern 3 or 6 lines for some time, then IH changed to bolts with an IH on the heads in about 1956, and the modern 3 or 6 lines.
A 1964 Cub would have bolts that have IH, and the modern 3 or 6 lines on the heads, as far as I know.
It looks like the bolt holding the front end to the engine, in your pic, has an IH and 3 lines, but it's hard to see it in the pic.

If the pump hole cover is original, I don't know how it got 2 bolts with just dots on the heads, unless they were there at the factory. :)
