I was able to push it enough to put some gravel over the mud, so at least it's not stuck in the mud, should have done that before I parked it, live and learn.
I ordered a new coil, points & condenser. I'm spending my kids inheritance so what the heck, update to follow.
As always , thank you all.

Not diagnosed yet. I ordered the coil, points/condenser to continue the troubleshooting. Hopefully replacing these will solve the problem. If not, then at least I can rule out the possible weak spark issue. Spark is evident on all plugs when grounding to manifold. Working back, I removed the center magneto wire & ran the starter. Spark is evident but not a strong blue color. However it doesn't look yellow either.

Here's the funny part: I had to wear my ski goggles because with snow everywhere I couldn't discern what color the spark was :D

Still waiting for parts from TM Tractor.

Meanwhile, figured I would check the terminal stud on the starter housing (under the saddle mount starter switch) to check for corrosion. It looks a bit worn out, almost wedge shaped. Found a new part on eBay & it looks like a new stud would make better contact with the switch spring/plunger. The starter does turn over but wondering if the stud should be replaced. I can see where contact is being made on the stud but looks like its only hitting one side of the stud.

Also trying to locate the part number for the two screws that hold down the switch to the starter housing. They look like number 10/10 (?) according my gage but not sure this is correct.

I think those switch saddle screws are 10-32.

Hardware store for the screws.

The contact stud/terminal mounted on the side of the starter was originally wedge shaped. I'm pretty sure that some of the wiring inside the starter is silver soldered to the stud/terminal.

Polish the stud/terminal and contact areas in the plunger.

I had a repair shop replace the starter "nub" stud with a bolt so I could use a ring terminal cable, was informed that the piece is soldered inside and requires disassembly to make the repair. Not an easy fix, good luck. Stan

Still waiting for parts ( coil, points , condenser) I got a new battery. The old one was borderline weak. No start.

Then I remembered this: right before I parked it I put oil in the bearing oiler port on the magneto. Maybe to much oil.
Today I removed the magneto & maybe an ounce of black oil dripped out from the impulse coupler area.
The coil and magnets are wet with fresh oil, presumably with the recent shot of oil I put in the bearing oiler port, (?).
As I turn the rotor assembly it has oil on it, but the condenser and points housing are oil free.
Is this normal? Should I disassemble the whole unit and clean with alcohol?

I am familiar with the replacement procedure for the rotor, impulse coupler, tdc timing, etc..

Hi,
The oil seal at the magneto drive could be leaking motor oil into the area at the magneto mounting.
I don't know if it is, but it's a possibility.

Below are pics of the magneto drive, and the oil seal with the governor removed.
The drive should be turned to the position in the pic when the engine is at number 1 cylinder TDC.
TM Tractor has a new oil seal for it. :)

Thanks Glen, I replaced coil, points/condenser, its cranking better with the new battery, but not starting. I will check the seal once the weather warms a bit. I cleaned the connections at the key switch & ground post on distributor. I may try a "drift start" today if I can convince my wife to assist with towing it to the road. Here is a picture of the 48 just before it was parked. (I hope the attachment worked)

Don't hook a tow chain to the front axle.

Ditto to what Jim says. Run the chain or strap under the front axle and back to the drawbar.
