IH 1000 loader questions
Hello all,
Just picked up another Cub that I could not pass up. This past Thursday I was working from home and dogsitting our 3 dogs - a Plott Hound, Fox Hound and Border Collie and it was nothing but chaos. Trying to destress I looked on Facebook Marketplace and saw an ad for a 65 Lo Boy with a 1000 loader for $400.00 10 miles away and the ad had just posted. I messaged the guy instantly and he gave me his number and we talked for a long while and he said I was the first person to call and I had first shot. Then he got 50 messages and calls, most offering more money. The seller got confused, listed it as sold. I tried calling and messaging him and cold silence. I thought I lost it. Well later Friday night he said it was worth $2000...but I could see it, offered more if he wanted.
I thought it was gone and he called me today around 10 and said I could come and look at it, my buddies came over with a trailer and the gentleman said he would honor the first dib offer and hold the price even though others including myself offered more.
I got a 1966 Cub with Loader for $400! Serial #22345

Re: IH 1000 loader questions
Hi,
The 1000 loaders made after the yellow and white Cubs and LoBoys came out were white, as far as I know.
Below is the operator's manual, and parts manual for the 1000 loader, if you don't have them.
The operator's manual says 1962 on the last page, so it might look like it is not white.

Re: IH 1000 loader questions
You better go to church today!
As far as the hoses your best bet is to go a hydraulics shop with the old hoses and have them may them to the same length and fitting. It will be fast and not that expensive.
Mark how the hoses are before removal but do not assume a PO knew what they were doing or modified them in some way. Look at the manual to confirm that the hoses are correctly installed. Mine came from someone who knew what they were doing but modified it so think got tricky when I moved it to a different tractor.

Ha, my mother is a minister so I get a pass today, but I know what you mean...it was a gift from someone upstairs.
Glenn and Peter thanks for the tips. Any suggestions on where to get the paint? I might ask the guys at TM but most likely thinking Columbia Tractor (IH dealer in NY).

Most of the ones I have seen are white and you can purchase the IH white. There is a paint cross-reference chart on the site somewhere

Re: IH 1000 loader questions
Hi,
TM Tractor has spray cans of Case IH white, red, yellow, and silver.
I'm not sure if the white is the same as the loader, but probably.
http://www.tmtractor.com/new/sp/935fp.htm
The dealers have paint too.

Re: IH 1000 loader questions
Another suggestion. I have not used my loader on a loboy. On my standard cub, I found I needed double wheel weight to keep from spinning with a load. Now I have very wetland and less than perfect ag tires.
I have moved the loaded to a 130 and am now adding a second set of weights to that tractor. I spin with a load on the forks which put the load further out than the bucket.

I have a 1000 loader on a 130. Yes, double the wheel weights.

Thanks...I have plenty of front weights but sold the rear weights. Had no need for them but wish I hadn't. This Cub came with a weight box and weights so that might work out when I put the loader on the 65 Lo Boy.

Heres 1 of my loaders on a Cub with 2 sets of rear weights. Works good. BUT your killing the Cub for power wise.

Brad...we use our Cubs for agricultural uses and the front is usually light and no power issues. So with a loader I understand you need the weight in the back. So my loader rookie question is ---you lose power with 440 pounds of weight on the wheels? What happens? It moves slower?
I know next to nothing about these loaders.
Thank you---

Re: IH 1000 loader questions
I have never seen a loss in power due to the wheel weight. I may accelerate a little slower but with a loader on the machine you should only be in 1st or 2nd medium throttle any way

Ya, I did see that in the operators manual and that makes sense.
How responsive are the hydraulics for lifting and dumping the bucket? Is it smooth or kind of jerky?

Re: IH 1000 loader questions
Mine has filled tires, 2 sets of Rear weights, the weight of the loader on the cub, the person on the cub, and whatever weights in the bucket. IT ADS UP.
PLUS you need Pop Eye arms to steer it.

Re: IH 1000 loader questions
My hydraulics are smooth I could lift pallets and things very carefully and safely.
The loader does make the cub hard to steel with a load. The 130 is much easier to steer.
You have to think of this not as a loader but as the best wheelbarrow you will ever own. you are not going to dig a septic system or a pool. Even with its limits, I use this more than anything. It very handy to have around. I use my home made forks more than the bucket.
