When I remove the clear plastic, the decal does not stick to the Cub, but follows the clear plastic.

Grrr ! What am I doing wrong ? :big crying:

If I am reading these guys correctly, and they are reading your problem correctly, the clear plastic is part of the decal, assuming you bought mylar decals. It has to stay on the tractor. Just trying to summarize for clarity. If you in fact bought vinyl decals, just correct our assumption and we'll keep trying.

Edit: My son and I rebuilt his Cub back in 2007 as a High School project. I think we used mylar decals, but I also think I remember that we trimmed the excess clear plastic where possible between and around the letters prior to application, so less of it would show. My memory fades, since that was 13 years ago.

I picked a set that’s sat and done nothing.
A few weeks back I bought a BBQ grill the is stainless with red panels. Thinking of putting the decals on that :)

I prefer vinyl but you don't always get to choose. In cases where I've used Mylar, I trimmed the excess field before applying. They've held up fine but I'll take the die cut vinyl if I get to choose.

With decals
20201111_170411.jpg

Yesterday I didn't have a clue about the diff. between mylar and vinyl cut. Today I know better, thanks to the wealth of knowledge shown by all of you.
What I bought was mylar, and I tried to treat it as vinyl cut
Mylar is OK with a decent distance. Closer than 10-12 ft. it looks cheap.

I'm considering removing the decals again, and try to find vinyl cut - but where ?
I could leave the mylar on for a while, but may probably ruin the paint when removing it later on ?
Best regards

Just to finish this thread.
I've found vinyl cut decals on the Internet, and until further I will live with the mylars, because:
1. Price of vinyl cut.
2. Removing the mylars will probably ruin the hood/tank paint.
