Re: My first international cub
Hi,
A Cub has a manual choke, you have to adjust it to the right position when the engine is cold, or the engine can stall, especially when put under a load.
There is nothing unusual about needing to use the choke when the engine is cold.
Maybe you knew that already.
If it won't run without the choke on when warmed up, the main jet in the carburetor may need cleaning.
The main jet is under a cap at the bottom rear of the Zenith carb.
Below are pages from the Cub parts manual, showing the Zenith carb.
The cap is number 18 in the pic on the 1st page, the main jet is 20.

They have said on here to use a screwdriver that fits the main jet well, grind a screwdriver to fit, if needed.
The float level may be wrong, and need setting.
The float level has to be right for the carb to work right.
Unless the original carb is ruined somehow, they usually say on here to clean and rebuild it, and use it again.
Below is a pic from TM Tractor showing the cap over the main jet on a Zenith carb.
There is a screen in the original fitting where the gas line attaches to, be sure it is clean. The fitting is shown in the pic below also.

Re: My first international cub
Yes sir I took carb off today try and clean main jet. The problem is someone messed up the brass jets inside. Can’t unscrew them they broke the brass so no longer has a screw driver slot. That’s ok My new one will be in soon. I’ll throw the original in the dumpster after I put on the new one. Not worth drilling out the brass jets. But thanks again everyone for all the great advice and information

Yes!! Glad you sent it to someone. Lots of good parts still on that carb I'm sure. Was this an IH carb or zenith? Either way glad someone got it to put on a shelf to scavenge parts off it or to rebuild.
