Will any 6v coil work?
My cub won't start and I'm wondering if the coil is the problem. Can I use any 6v coil I can find that will mount on the tractor or do they have to have been specifically designed for a cub?

Re: Will any 6v coil work?
Technically yes, any 6 volt coil will work. Coils come in different physical sizes and some used the coil case as the ground for the secondary wire.
Try what ever coil you have on hand, even a 12 volt coil without the internal resistor.
Couple of checks before you purchase or change the coil. (1) Condition of the points, rotor, and distributor cap. (2) Points blocked open, battery voltage at the points.

I have an excuse. CRS.

If you try another one you may have to also replace the bracket and how it mounts.
When you only have 9 horsepower you need to know the names of all of the ponies!
