I have had packages from FL get to my local hub in 2 days then sit there for a week. Had 1 package come with a note saying it broke open and they repackaged it, no parts in it even close to what was in it. Some other person will not get their parts.

USPS tracking has always been less than adequate.

You're right about that, Don, UPS tracking works pretty well, FedEx is so so, USPS is way below the curve.

I find that with usps there rates are up. What cost me $25 to ship costs me $40 now. I use fedex more it’s cheaper.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.

It recently seems that USPS tracking gets behind the item. Maybe the Post Office has decided that with manpower shortages it is more important to move the packages than to keep the status current. One thing I have noticed on several items is a big lag between the shipper printing a label and the Post Office claiming it has possession of the item. This could be caused by a work at home shipper printing the label then sitting on the item until he has several things to take to the Post Office. But since it has shown up more than once, I suspect the USPS. Here is part of a recent tracking example:

June 17, 2020, 4:19 pm
Accepted at USPS Origin Facility
CONNEAUT, OH 44030

June 14, 2020, 7:23 pm
Shipping Label Created, USPS Awaiting Item
CONNEAUT, OH 44030

The other thing I've noticed is when an item gets close to delivery, The most recent status will be arrive or depart from the regional distribution center with delivery expected the next day. Then, it gets the rest of the arrival updates and delivery the same day. My guess is the status updates are late enough that it thinks the package missed a truck that it was really on.

Well, here is a status on something I sent to the state of Washington, from Ohio. Let's see how it pans out.

I have one package missing since the 10th and another now marked late. A planter countershaft got to Baton Rouge sorting center on July 10th. No movement after that. Just says "arriving late". It is not like this is a letter sized parcel. I created a case almost a week ago and they don't answer the phone. Now a pretty hard to find duplex planter plate is "late" and I am afraid it is going to be lost too.

Don't just give up yet  Mine just took 11 days to go 207 miles with no tracking from the 13th til it got there on the 20th. Package was no larger than a big jar of peanut butter so it wasn't like it was too heavy to move

2100 miles in 4 days isn't too awful bad.

Ordered the Intake and Exhaust VVT Solenoid Actuators for my 2012 Malibu on Wednesday 8/5 at 11:00am. At 3:30pm RockAuto had them ready to be picked up by USPS.
Here is the path they took from Wednesday evening to Friday noon when they were delivered to my house.
...and we wonder why the Post Office is losing money!!

Don’t know how widespread the following problem would be, but here goes:

Hwy 80 in Warren County, MS washed out a few months ago. So they closed the highway to thru traffic. Mail lady refuses to go down that road. There is a guy I know that lives in plain sight from the road closed sign, and she refuses to take his mail to him. Substitute driver does deliver when she works that route, which rarely happens. Someone came out and asked about the situation. But nothing was ever done. Boggles the mind!

My 35 lb 30" long package with a cub planter countershaft left Kentucky on July 6th. It stopped in Baton Rouge on the 10th. Didn't move after that. I started a case online and called the post office multiple times over a several week period. After the calls failed, I filed another case online and that very afternoon they e-mailed me to tell me that my package was lost for good. Said I should get the seller to ship me another one. It is not like he has 10 of them on the shelf. The gentleman that shipped it went to his post office in Kentucky and they reopened the case. On July 30th I finally got the package that was due in on the 11th. Of coarse one of the cast gears was broken to pieces but at least I got most of it intact.

I shipped to flat rate boxes via USPS from Ky. to Ca. to the same person on 7/22/20, one arrived on 7/25. The other is still in transit, great service.
