PTO Shaft Pilot Bushing Dimensions

Postby Pickerincal » Fri Jun 19, 2020 10:21 am

Where is the "PTO Pilot Shaft Bushing located? I am working on a PTO and I can only find the Pilot Bushing located at the rear of the engine, not one in the Transmission. Are these one in the same?

The end of the PTO shaft opposite the splines fits into the PTO bushing. You have to remove the PTO assembly or rear cover plate to access it.

Hi,
The PTO pilot bushing is in the rear of the clutch shaft.
The clutch pilot bushing is at the front of the clutch shaft, in the rear end of the crankshaft.

Below is a listing at TM Tractor for the clutch pilot bushing, you can look at the pics.

Below is a listing for the PTO pilot bushing.

Below are pics from TM Tractor.
The 1st pic shows the PTO pilot bushing in the rear end of the shaft.
The 2nd pic shows a transmission housing, with most of the parts removed, the end of the shaft, and the bushing, would be where the bearing is. :)

Thanks.. The Cub I'm working on never had a PTO as far as I know and I had finished putting the PTO in by the time I read this. I ended up pulling the PTO shaft and looking in to see if there was a Bushing, there was. Thanks again.

Hi,
The bushing and the front end of the PTO shaft should have some grease put on them, as you put the PTO in the housing. :)
