This is the first one of these I've seen. Thin brass tab attached to the housing. How does it attach to the light? Can I just rely on a ground from the light to the housing without attaching?

You'll need to bend it out before assembly so the reflector touches it.

Well I found another light with that set up. The tab folds over and pinches between the light and housing to make ground.

As long as there's contact between that brass tab and the reflector, you should have ground.
