Well I thought I'ld go mess with the 48 this afternoon to see if I could find why it wouldn't start last fall. Over the winter I had checked a few things and changed the spark plugs in it but it still wouldn't go. So today I thought I'ld check the distributor. Checked the rotor and the metal "wing" kind of looked like there was a burnt round area at the very center, and then the outside part that is attached to the plastic was broken. So I went through some stuff of dads and found a new package with points, condenser and rotor in it. Just put the rotor on to see if that fixed the problem, and she pretty much started right up.
While this might not seem like that big of a deal to you guys, it's the first time I've done something to a tractor that wouldn't start and got it started. So baby steps, I'm learning, so I'm happy Also now I can do the maintenance stuff on both the 65 and the 48 at the same time, so I'm happy x2.

Re: 48 Started Back Up
Good thing you had one. Those rotors for the '48 aren't cheap, comparatively speaking. One reason old farmers never throw anything away. You never no when you might need it again.
Happy you got it up and running.

Why is there never enough time to do the job right, but always enough time to do it over.
