The drawing someone submitted(T-mo? I can’t remember) has a problem. The dimensions between the holes need to be reversed. The 1.31” and 1.5” are backwards. How do I know? Just made two by the dimensions and tried to install. If I had the parts to hand I wouldn’t have gone by the dimensions. Oh well

Edit: not all is lost. The first hole distances from the ends are fine. Installed each end using those holes and just drilled rest of the holes via the parts as a guide. Not a perfect solution since there are holes that aren’t needed, but I think it will last quite a while, if not as long as one done properly. We shall see

The dimensions were from Jim Becker's sketch I believe. I'll have to double check the dimensions again.

Jim's sketch did not have the hole spacing, but I got them from another member in a post in the thread that Jim's sketch was in. But, I must have misinterpret which end was the drive end. Here is a new version of the drawing with the hole spacing reversed. Take a look and let me know if that's correct, and I'll send Dennis an updated version to load into the pdf manual section.

Might want to identify this version in some way to differentiate it from the first. At a later time, those folks that printed off the first one and later print off this version might get them confused and make the wrong one.

Sorry, Jim, didn’t realize I had the extra t in there until I saw your post. Sometimes I wish there was no predictive text on my phone.

Autocorrect was bad enough. But they found a way to make it worse.

I don't know who drew it, I just found it on the forum.

Sorry Jim, I thought for sure you were the one who posted the sketch. My mistake, but bottom line, I had a sketch that had the hole spacing plus some of the hole sizes missing, which were provided in later posts in the same thread. My reference to the sketch wasn't to tarnish the sketch, nor any other nefarious intentions, but to lay the ground work on why I got the drawing wrong. Just a misinterpretation on my part on what end was what.

Ironic enough I broke my first pitman in over ten years recently. I had a spare I bought that was marked $10.50. Wonder what the new spare will cost? Maybe I'll use the drawing and make one instead.

Scrivet, I broke my first one about a week ago. Didn’t want to bother ordering one and I had a piece of cypress handy so I had at it. Easy to do and Don is correct about the price today for them, so I’ll never buy another one. Will do next one out of oak, though. Will see how long the cypress lasts
