If the serial number plate is original to the tractor, all the casting dates should have a "Q" code for the year. This link will show you where to look for them...

You need to check out www.barnyardbash.com

The final drive castings may have numbers for the year rather than a letter as my 47 does

Welcome to the Forum! Yes, that would be a Circle Cub (only deemed that the first 2-3 months of production in 1947).

Take some time and read through a few threads to acquaint yourself with the Forum:

Don't know if you have all the manuals to your Cub, but after your 2nd post on the Forum, you'll have access to the all the PDF Manuals. They are located via "Quick Links" in the upper left corner of your screen. Hit that and a pull-down appears where you'll find "PDF Manuals". Through that link, you'll be able to download an Owner's Manual (very strongly recommended) and any service manuals that interest you. You'll be able to familiarize yourself with your new-to-you Cub more quickly. Implement Manuals are also available.

We’d encourage you to take the Safety Test located in the Safety Forum: http://farmallcub.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=68084

Might also enjoy reading through this thread (even though it’s for a Cub, much can be applied to any tractor just brought home): What to do with a Cub you just brought home

There are a lot of good threads dealing with Cub repair and maintenance in the How To Forum. Located here: http://farmallcub.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=11

Take some pictures of your Cub when you get it and post them, we’d like to see it. Remember, when you have a specific question, start a new thread in the appropriate sub-forum and use the Preview button before hitting Submit--it'll show you exactly what your post will look like.

Glad you joined us.

I am actually buying 2 cubs. As long as the man on craigslist holds them for two weeks for me. I will be out of the country for 2 weeks. Has anyone hauled 2 cubs on a 6' x 16' trailer? It has 2 - 3500# axles with brakes. I have to haul them approx. 600 miles. A 1947 & 1952 cub.

That will be super tight with 2 Cubs on a 16' trailer.

The second Cub will be very close to the back edge of the trailer. You will need to make sure they are tied down very good. I am getting a very bad visual of 2x10's but we WILL NOT go there.

Don't know what you're pulling it with, but a regular 1500 (heavy-half ton) truck will pull a longer trailer and (2) Cubs.

Suggestion: Borrow a friend's 18', 20' or 22' trailer, or rent one from a local U-Haul dealer.

Re: Circle Cub?You can fit 2 Cubs on a 16 foot trailer

You can fit 2 Cubs on a 16 foot trailer but it is very tight. They have to be bare tractors, no front or rear mounted equipment that adds length to the tractor. One of the challenges is BALANCE. You will probably need to back both tractors on. You will want to put the front tractor forward far enough that the drawbar and tires actually project a bit over the front of the trailer bed.

Properly tying down each tractor will be a challenge as the other tractor, the trailer fenders, and everything else you can imagine will be in the way of properly placing the tie downs.

I believe the longest trailer U-haul rents is probably 16 foot. I'm not sure about the other national rental places, but we rented an equipment trailer from an equipment rental place to haul a full size Dodge Ram van, which are wider than a car or truck (it wouldn't fit on an U-haul trailer). So, renting from an equipment rental place may be an option also.

I haul two cubs on my 16 foot trailer. From Louisville, KY to Cubarama every year with no problems. As you can see, the first cub is offset on the trailer so the second cub's tire can rest against the drawbar. Tying it all down is critical and trailer brakes are a must. Everything needs to be balanced for a smooth ride. Just watch your stopping distances too.

Tow vehicle is a Ford F150...Safe travels.
No 2 X 10s needed.
