Yes this elbow is maybe 3/8-1/2” longer than the Clancy. It does have the little flair that sits up against the neck.

What is the NAPA part number for the radiator? My NAPA store did not have a listing for it.

The overflow tube is supposed to go down along the left side of the shroud, I think.
There is no shroud in your pic on page 1 of this post.

Is that to me? If so there is a shroud and a tube on the left side. That picture of mine there’s no shroud or fan either, had just got the radiator bolted down and hadn’t gotten that far yet.

I took one of these to the 2018 DSCF, where someone (sorry, I don't remember who) soldered it onto the filler neck. I had the little flat stock piece already installed at the bottom right of the radiator that held the lower end of the overflow tube. The tubes were originally soldered at the filler neck, plus (I think) 2 other spots further down. Pretty easy to line it up because the old solder spots were quite visible.

I was just saying where I thought the tube goes, I've hardly ever seen a pic of it on here, I think.
Thanks for a pic of the original one, I guess it goes straight down from where the bottom of the pic is.

The new radiator looks good in your pic.

Dale, I thought IH changed to a tube like in Shane's pic above sometime.

Dale has listed the correct way for the copper drain line. It went down the right and went inside the shroud through a cut out in the top of the shroud then through the keeper at the bottom. This 1975 I just worked on went down the left side and it was clipped outside the shroud on the front with 2 slide on clips.

These are the only 2 pictures I can find right now. The copper one is soldered to the radiator in two places as Dale said. This one of mine is broken off and was in the process of being replaced. The other picture shows the late model with the clip at the bottom. The link Dale posted for TM has clear pictures of the copper tube and where it goes.

i have the clancey radiator and the tube from TM as shown above . i am going to remove the overflow tube that is in the clancey , and solder the new tube from TM , probably today . i'll take pictures along the way and post them if y'all think would be helpful, coppersmythe..............................EDIT ps: its all bill hudsons "fault" i have decided to do it the "hard" way

FYI, I wanted to mention that the TM Tractor's tube is STEEL, not copper. The guy who was soldering it in had a little trouble making it "stick". I should have prepped the radiator better...this was going on an older radiator, not my new Clancey cub, which simply has clear tubing shove on the nipple and running down the left side held in place by wire ties on the shroud. The tubing also started to rust fairly quickly, so I suggest you paint it with something...red, black, clear, whatever...anything would look better than rust.

Or maybe you have some copper tubing around there, Val?! Have fun and please DO post some photos.

there is two main requirements to making it "stick" . CLEAN surfaces , and "commercial" liquid flux . i'll include a picture of the brand i use , any sheet metal supply house should have it. i have been using it for a long time ,coppersmythe...................

Just to throw a bit of a monkey wrench into the what, when, where and why's of the evolution of the radiator overflow tube, I have an original 78 longstripe with a brass tube running down the right side (sitting in the seat) and terminating in the flat clip. Ignore the holes in the tube.

Don, the tube you show in the above photo is just about like the one I replaced on mine. I wish the new one had been brass or copper, though. I was stupid not to have painted it after it was installed.
And Val, you are right about the prep...I should have used a pad in my mini angle grinder and removed ANY corrosion from the radiator before the guys went "at it"!!

That is strange. TM shows that clip was used on Cubs serial numbers 248124 and below.
