Found a tractor radio

I picked up this little beauty a while back. It's unusual in that it's AM & FM. Most of the older tractor radios are AM only. I've got it all apart to go over the chassis right now. Looks like some water got inside the cabinet at one time but while there's some surface rust on the bottom of the chassis the PCB board inside is clean so I'm hoping it'll just need some caps. Unfortunately the bottom part of the mount was missing. The radio is by the Automatic Radio Co. Best guess is it dates to the 1960's or possibly the early 1970's.

The knobs look like they came out of a '62 Rambler.

Yeah, they do. :) Back in the 1960's a Chevy dealership I worked at ordered all new cars minus a radio unless the customer wanted the deluxe multi speaker system. Whoever bought the car was then given the option of the more expensive factory radio or the less expensive after-market Automatic radio. We installed a lot of those.

Larry, are you going to just repair it to working condition, or restore it by repainting it?

Seems to be in really good shape and the "cool" factor is also evident.

Just repair the radio. The cabinet is in really nice condition. It's not painted, it's solid red plastic and a little polishing will sharpen it right up.
