Planter/ sidedresser

Postby Jack » Thu Aug 29, 2019 1:31 pm

I was reading the manual for the cub174 runner planter,
Changing the sprockets change the seed spacing,
I was looking at what all I have, and came across a
7, 12 and 13 tooth sprocket, I cannot find the 13 tooth sprocket in the chart, I was hoping that it was a 14 tooth,
Can anyone give me any information on that sprocket
Thank you
Jack

You can change sprockets on the countershaft or the feed shaft. Chart shows 7,9,10,12 and 14 teeth sprockets. And you also have different sprockets that can be put on the main drive on the final. Chart shows the amount of seed per acre for different configurations on the feed and countershaft sprockets. The 13 tooth you have, is it for the main drive on the final?

No it is not for the finals
Yes I seen where there are different teeth sprockets for different seed spacing.
My question is the manual shows 7,9,10,12,14 tooth sprockets, and I have a 13 tooth sprocket, what is that sprocket used for, because the manual doesn't show it for anything.
Thanks

I believe that may be for use on the sidedresser, not the planter

The only Cub-related references I'm seeing to the 13-tooth sprocket is for the rear mounted row units like the 184, 186, etc.

If it has the same hub as the right one, it will give a spacing about half way between what you get from a 12 and a 14. If you decide you really have no use for it, I need to check if I already have a 13 for my 184. This spring, I couldn't get as close a spacing as I was trying for.

I’ve seen a few references online of folks having this part for sale as part of fertilizer units. Of course they may be mistaken. I did check one of my fertilizer drive units and it has a 15 tooth sprocket. I didn’t think to check the 184 units etc
